Family...

I have a peculiar family situation...All of my dad's side live far, far away and I rarely see them. It's weird, I have only seen each cousin on that side like, 2 or 3 times in my whole life. I have to admit, I feel cheated...not that anyone in particular is responsible. I say that because living where I do, I see what it is like to be surrounded by Matt's family and I see first hand the benefits to all of our children. I wish so much that I had had that same opportunity to develop relationships with my cousins and other family.

I had the unique opportunity to visit with one of my cousins today. I can't tell you how wonderful a feeling it is to know she is out there. The last time I saw her she was just a little kid, like 9 years ago or so. I can't believe how much she has changed, and too how much the same she is. But, to feel connected to someone far away...cause I really relate to her personality and interests..it's kinda neat. I only got to see her for breakfast, not much time at all. I am however, thankful for those two hours I got to spend getting to know her a little bit. It makes me think about my other cousins and how much I wish I could spend more time with each of them.

My grandparents on my dad's side are awesome. Although I did not know them as well as my cousin, we shared the opinion that they are wonderful people. My grandmother, she is the most distinguished and elegant woman I have ever seen. She is perfectly beautiful and certainly does not look her age. My grandpa is approaching 80 and still working all the time. (I think they are still in their 70's) He is so wonderful, kind and sweet. I have never sent an e-mail to him that was not returned with love. I am lucky to have them, but oh how I wish we could have grown up closer to them all.

smile

Kids are great, kids are fun, kids keep you on your toes and never cease to entertain you. Our daughter, Jayden (4) said the funniest thing the other day. It seems her grandpa's dog, Buddy, had run into a skunk and had to be bathed several times with tomato juice.

Well, when I picked Jayden up from grandpa's she told me, "buddy got a bath with a-mato juice 'cause he got stunked!"

That was the cutest thing I think I have heard in a looonngg time and oh, did I get a chuckle. Moriah and I kept asking her to repeat herself and everytime she said it, we just died laughing. She eventually caught on and wouldn't say it anymore.

...yesterday I caught Moriah taunting Jayden in the laundry room. Jayden was helping her fold laundry and they were turning the light on and off and scaring each other. Moriah kept telling her there was a ghost, then I'd remind Jayden that her sister is full of it. I assured her there were no ghosts. Every time I said anything Moriah would whisper, "yeah, but she doesn't really know for sure..." So, while they were occupied, I snuck out of the front door and walked around to the garage and to the other side of the laundry room door. I stood there and listened for a little while and sure enough, Moriah was still scaring Jayden..So I thought I'd give her a taste of her own medicine. Just as she said, "she doesn't know..." again, I banged on the door with all my might! They both screamed, I mean SCREAMED in fright...it was HILARIOUS. I opened the door and showed Jayden it was just me, playing a joke on Moriah. She got such a kick out of it. I totally freaked Moriah out, she was just asking for it. I just love being a mom. Sometimes it is just SO satisfying. hehe

Madison on Easter. Gosh shes so adorable. <3 Posted by Picasa

Oh man...

...I have a ton of pictures I want to post. So forgive me please, I cannot resist.

My parents came down for Easter, I was so happy to have them with me. As the pictures will testify, they absolutely adore the baby. There were just as many squeals coming from my mom as there were from Madison. It was a hoot. We enjoyed a lovely Easter service at Matt's Momma's church..Moriah and I cooked, we visited, we ate, we enjoyed sitting outside, Matt played basketball, Moriah played with Jayden...all in all a lovely time.

When everyone left, the house was empty..except for Madison and me. The bustle faded, and silence fell. It was an empty feeling that leaves you only with memories and maybe a stinging threat of a tear or two. I was so busy running around trying to get everything taken care of...I felt like I missed it all. Until, that is...the next day (today) I opened the pictures Moriah had been taking all day. Then it all comes back with a tear and a smile.

I love to have family and friends over...I just hate it when they leave.

DO YOU KNOW, I did not get any pictures of the girls in their Easter dresses! I could kick myself. I will have to dress 'em all up again.
